Job DescriptionAre you interested in a career in data protection and information governance? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to join our busy Information Governance (IG) team within Children's Services.
This is a varied and fast paced role where you will be exposed to a wide range of information governance and data protection activities and will be expected to demonstrate a 'hands-on' approach from day one. The Children's Services Information Governance team supports both the Children's Services department and schools across the county to meet data protection requirements, including the successful provision of the role of Data Protection Officer for schools through our traded service.
Your role will be to meet statutory requirements in relation to data protection subject access requests (DPSARs). This will involve meticulous attention to detail and high levels of accuracy to ensure requesters (people whose data we process) receive information in line with the relevant legislation.
The Information Governance team works with over 70 schools and linking with numerous teams across the Children's Services department within the Council.

You'll play a key part in ensuring that sensitive information is handled securely, appropriately, and in line with legislation. You'll be supporting the team with a range of IG duties, including subject access requests, privacy queries, and general information governance administration.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a good understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles (including GDPR)
- Is organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing deadlines
- Communicates confidently with a range of stakeholders
- Is comfortable using a variety of IT systems and applications
- Is keen to learn and contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team
Experience of handling Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) is desirable, but not essential - we will provide full training and ongoing support.
