Information Governance Specialist (Data Protection) | 4 Month Contract | (Inside IR35) | Hybrid (Edinburgh) | Starting ASAP

Day Rate: £330

Job Description:

Harvey Nash's public sector client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Information Governance Specialist (Data Protection) to support a National Data programme by ensuring the secure access and lawful processing of data when it is needed to increase the efficiency of systems and develop new and improved ways of working.

Information Governance is a growing discipline within public service transformation which ensures that there is a robust foundation for the accountability, transparency, and secure use of personally identifiable data in the delivery of all essential systems.

This Data Senior Information Governance Specialist post will support the DPO, with the provision of comprehensive Information Governance Practitioner support to the national data programme, driving compliance with information governance legislation, policies, and standards.

Main Duties:

  1. Provide specialist advice in the provision of Data Protection knowledge and expertise, by providing expert practitioner support to the clients Technology Service in the development and delivery of the national data programme.
  2. Provide leadership and direction by ensuring that the appropriate due diligence has been undertaken, to guarantee the lawful and secure processing of personally identifiable data in the delivery of the national programme.
  3. Responsible for ensuring that the development and implementation of new software/technical solutions adhere to data protection legislative requirements, and that associated risks are adequately mitigated.
  4. Be proactive in the application of expert Data Protection knowledge in the drafting of appropriate accountability and governance documentation, including Data Protection Impact Assessments, Information Sharing Agreements, and Data Processing Agreements.
  5. Leverage critical awareness/knowledge of relevant issues in the field through engaging with and representing the client within the wider product community by ensuring that information governance and data protection are considered appropriately in the delivery of technical solutions across health and care workforce systems.
  6. Collaborate closely with colleagues from other disciplines in enabling the success of our cross-disciplinary delivery teams.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  1. Extensive experience working in the field of Information Governance and Data Protection legislation.
  2. Considerable experience in drafting and conducting data protection impact assessments.
  3. Experience of communicating and influencing at senior levels and of giving presentations at local/national/international levels.
  4. Extensive knowledge of information governance and data protection, including legislative issues.
  5. Understanding of legislative compliance for public sector organisations regarding data protection legislation.
  6. Ability to rapidly assimilate significant volumes of complex information.
  7. Strong understanding of the regulatory environment regarding the client.
  8. Proven expertise in the practical implementation of data protection legislation.
  9. Management role including coaching and/or mentoring of team members.
