Job summary

RWE Generation UK invites you to join our Gas Asset Management group for an industrial placement focused on developing and using expert digital systems such as Mara and CPM to monitor and optimise power station assets. You will work with Seeq, PI Vision and Python to learn data analytics and support data quality efforts.

You will benefit from on-the-job training, courses and exposure to cross-disciplinary teams across the Asset Management function.

Qualifications

• Ideally pursuing an Engineering degree with interest in energy and thermodynamics basics.
• Strong aptitude in data science and analytical methods.
• Familiar with data analytics and visualization tools.

Are you interested in a placement with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our Gas Asset Management group has an exciting industrial placement opportunity and is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills!

RWE Generation’s Gas Asset Management group supports our portfolio of gas fired power stations across Europe.Our Information & Analytics placement role will allow you to work within this group, focussing on the development and use of expert systems for monitoring and optimisation of our power station assets. Members of the team have developed these expert systems and models through the Digitalisation atRWE Generation programme, creating products such as the Maintenance & Asset Reliability Assistant (Mara) and the Centralised Performance Monitoring (CPM) Dashboard. About the role

• Be part of the development and operation of expert digital systems, such as Mara and CPM. These digital tools are designed to make the best use of our data and transform our business.
• Develop your understanding of applying the latest digital tools and analytical techniques to real use cases to improve business performance.
• Be involved with developing and using data analytics and visualisation tools, such as creating failure models for the power station equipment.
• Support experienced colleagues in the Generation and IT areas, including the monitoring of data quality, then applying your skills, and learning new ones.

You will attend courses, workshops and on the job training for your personal development.
You may also have the opportunity to spend time with other disciplines across the Asset Management function, learning about the challenges of managing a pan-European portfolio business.

Job requirements and experience

• Ideally, you are pursuing a degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical or Chemical/Process), with an interest in the energy industry and knowledge of engineering fundamentals such as thermodynamics.
• A strong aptitude in data science and analytical methods is essential.

You will be using the latest analytical and visualisation tools, such as Seeq, PI Vision, and programming languages such as Python.

The Assessment Centre will take place on Tuesday 24th November 2026 face to face at DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon, Wilts SN5 8UZ. Accommodation will be booked on your behalf and travel subsidised by RWE. The evening prior to the Assessment Centre a meal will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton which you will be required to attend.
