Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a senior data analytics lead to guide analytics across the South Wales Trauma Network. You will develop dashboards, reports and analytical products, and perform advanced analyses using NMTR and SAIL Databank to support service planning and evidence-based decision-making.

Qualifications

Job description

The role provides specialist analytical leadership for the South Wales Trauma Network, supporting service evaluation, quality improvement, research and operational delivery through the analysis of complex trauma datasets. Working closely with clinical, operational and academic stakeholders, the post holder will develop and maintain dashboards, reports and analytical products, undertake advanced data analysis using sources including the National Major Trauma Registry (NMTR) and SAIL Databank, and generate insights to inform service planning, performance management and evidence-based decision-making. It is essential that the post holder possesses strong analytical, data warehousing and SQL skills, together with experience in business intelligence and data visualisation tools, to deliver high-quality intelligence that supports service development and improved patient outcomes across the network.

• Educated to Masters Level or equivalent experience

Desirable

• PhD in numerate subject
• Relevant professional registration (e.g. UK Council for Health Informatics Professions)
• Project Management Qualification (e.g. Prince 2)
• Service / Quality improvement qualification

Experience Essential

• Experience within a Health Informatics environment. Significant experience within an information environment
• Working with large data warehouses utilising a number of data sources and ETL processes.
• Contributing towards analytics that are aligned to Population Health/ Prudent Health Care and VBHC
• Experience of information analysis and reporting
• Strong knowledge in applicable technology e.g. Excel and SQL skills
• Good understanding of statistics and their application in a business environment

Desirable

• Experience with NHS information systems Knowledge of Operational research methods and application
• Knowledge and understanding of mandatory reporting requirements, NHS data standards and definitions Business Intelligence tools
