  • Provide patient education and act as a patient advocate to enable informed health care choices.
  • Maintain the IBD telephone helpline, including appropriate referral and feedback procedures.
  • Carry out parallel nurse-led clinics with Gastroenterologists and provide expert clinical advice as required.
  • Contribute to research and evidence-based practice to improve patient-centred care.
  • Adhere to the NMC code of professional conduct and scope of practice at all times.

Overview

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse to join our Gastroenterology team at Milton Keynes University Hospital. This role focuses on delivering specialist care to patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including nurse-led clinics, patient education, and coordination of treatment plans. You will work closely with consultants, dietitians, and pharmacists to ensure holistic, evidence-based care. The post holder will be an effective role model, demonstrating experience in management of patients with IBD and acting as a resource to other health care professionals. Act as a patient advocate by providing information to enable patients to make informed choices about their health care, participate in the maintenance of the IBD telephone helpline for patients to include appropriate referral and feedback procedures, carry out parallel nurse-led clinics with Gastroenterologist, and act as a specialist clinical expert within the Trust providing advice and information as required. Demonstrating commitment to research and evidence-based practice to improve patient-centred care, adhering to the NMC code of professional conduct and scope of professional practice at all times.
