Job Summary

ID CNS Band 7 Specialist Infectious Diseases Service

Are you a children's nurse who wants to make a difference? Are you seeking a rewarding, autonomous role that impacts families affected by infectious disorders and diseases? Then look no further.

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic children's nurse with experience working with children, young people, and families living with acute or chronic diseases to become a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in infectious diseases. Experience in acute/community care is beneficial but not essential. The role includes comprehensive educational and developmental opportunities.

Join our team of specialist nurses working within a small, multidisciplinary team. You will have opportunities to participate in pioneering research, audits, attend conferences, and develop communication, teaching, and liaison skills.

Main Duties

The post holder will be part of the Infectious Diseases (ID) Clinical Nurse Specialists team, providing cross cover and working across various ID subspecialties, including Hepatitis, TB, HIV, Congenital CMV, Kawasaki's disease, Covid-19, and PIMS-TS. Opportunities for research, audit, and project work will be available, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services.

  • To provide continuity of care and advocate for patients to ensure access to treatment and proactive management.
  • To coordinate care for children at GOSH during outpatient appointments and ward admissions.
  • To educate local healthcare staff, including community pediatric nurses, health visitors, GPs, social workers, and genetic counselors.
  • To train nurses and healthcare professionals locally to assist families in daily management.
  • To liaise with nurseries, schools, and colleges, providing advice on infectious disease management.
