Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Infant Feeding Team in Middlesbrough 0-19 Services as an Infant Feeding Coordinator.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Nurse to provide enhanced services within the Infant Feeding Team, working alongside our 0-19 Children’s Universal Service. The post holder will collaborate with partnership agencies to develop an Infant Feeding strategy and will be responsible for improving breastfeeding initiation and duration rates within the Middlesbrough population.

The Infant Feeding Coordinator will promote best practices through maintaining Baby Friendly Initiative standards, develop and deliver multidisciplinary education and training programs, and support women and colleagues with complex feeding issues.

Ideally, the candidate will be an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish a Peer Support model within the service, providing training, supervision, and coordinating staff to ensure advice aligns with UNICEF Baby Friendly Guidance.
• Plan and deliver service training for all Health Visiting staff, in collaboration with the Infant Feeding Lead and family hub staff.
• Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively to staff and clients, including during specialist breastfeeding clinics, using persuasive, motivational, and empathetic skills.

The Successful Candidate Will:

• Be willing to work flexibly.
• Work in partnership with 0-19 Staff, Maternity Services, and Family Hub staff to identify local needs and ensure accessible support for children and families.
• Have access to regular safeguarding and restorative supervision sessions.
• Be experienced in using electronic records and capable of working flexibly as a mobile worker.
