Job summary

WasteRecruit Ltd. in Peterborough is seeking an Inert and Closed Landfill Site Supervisor to ensure safe, compliant operations across inert and closed landfill sites in Cambridgeshire.

You will supervise contractors, conduct site inspections, liaise with regulatory bodies and customers, and coordinate restoration projects while promoting health, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience, ideally within the waste management industry
• Understanding of environmental issues, including landfill gas, leachate and surface water management
• Experience supervising contractors and coordinating site activities
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and smartphone use
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work
• Ability to travel between sites during the working day

Responsibilities

• Supervise inert and closed landfill sites to ensure safe and compliant operations
• Monitor site activities in line with environmental permits, company procedures and contractual requirements
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly site inspections and checks
• Manage and oversee contractors working across multiple sites
• Ensure waste, soil and restoration materials are handled efficiently and safely
• Liaise with customers, regulatory bodies and local stakeholders
• Support landfill gas and leachate management activities to maintain environmental compliance
• Organise site inductions for contractors, visitors and temporary workers
• Identify site maintenance requirements and coordinate remedial works
• Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all site activities

Inert and Closed Landfill Supervisor

Our client is one of the UK's leading waste and resource management companies, with over 200 facilities and around 4,500 employees across the UK.

As an Inert & Closed Landfill Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring inert and closed landfill sites are operated safely, efficiently and in compliance with environmental permits, company procedures and contractual obligations. You will supervise contractor activities, oversee restoration and operational projects, conduct site inspections and work closely with regulatory bodies, customers and internal teams to support business objectives.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week and covering sites in the Cambridgeshire area.

Main Duties:
