Job summary

Coleg Sir Gâr is seeking a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to join the Graig Campus team. The role involves delivering high-quality FE Mechanical Engineering teaching and contributing to curriculum development, with responsibilities including course leadership and learner wellbeing support.

The candidate should hold a relevant degree, teaching qualification (or PGCE commitment within two years), and demonstrate proficiency with industry-standard ME software and workshop equipment.

Qualifications

• Essential: Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
• Essential: Teaching qualification or committed to obtain PGCE within 2 years
• Essential: GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent
• Essential: Relevant teaching experience
• Essential: High level of competence in using industry-standard Mechanical Engineering software
• Essential: Practical competence with machinery, workshop equipment and precision measuring instruments
• Essential: Strong literacy and numeracy skills; good communication

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons across FE Mechanical Engineering programmes
• Conduct, invigilate and mark practical assessments and exams
• Act as Course Leader for an assigned programme and coordinate delivery
• Work flexibly to meet curriculum needs including day and evening teaching
• Contribute to development and delivery of commercial and in-company courses
• Maintain links with employers to inform curriculum and support learner progression
