Job summary

Ministry of Justice is seeking an experienced Activities Unit Manager to lead prison industries, oversee production workshops and ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance across the establishment. The role includes developing employment strategies, managing budgets, and coordinating with external stakeholders to secure private sector and education partnerships.

Hybrid working arrangements are available, with a 37-hour week and national responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in industry or commercial production environment.
• Qualified to level 4 or above including business management modules.
• Awareness of ISO9001 or an equivalent quality management system.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all staff provide a respectful, safe environment for prisoners and staff.
• Advise Senior Management Team (SMT) on industry related areas.
• Review and implement local industries improvement plans and policy annually.
• Responsible for ensuring staff are trained and qualified for the activities they are employed in.
• Manage budgets and staff performance, development and annual appraisal.
