Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a Production Instructor to supervise prisoners in a designated workshop, teaching job-related skills and guiding them toward qualifications. The role emphasizes health and safety, security, and maintaining high standards through structured learning and disciplined work practices.

Hybrid working arrangements are offered where business needs permit, with UK-based deployment and potential transfers within MoJ sites.

Qualifications

• Must have relevant work experience in a production environment.
• Supervisory experience is preferable.
• Experience using industrial standard machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise prisoners in a workshop and manage targets/quality standards.
• Induct prisoners and train them in health and safety, COSHH, machinery and tools usage.
• Set work schedules and log attendance, hours worked and wages as required.
• Provide support and tailor learning/training to individual needs.
• Maintain security, integrity of workshops and conduct routine equipment checks.
• Contribute to prisoner reports and participate in self-audit and SDIs.
