Job summary

DFS Furniture PLC in the UK is seeking an Industrial Sewing Machinist to stitch heavy fabrics, leather and velvet into cushions, arm covers and sofa panels. You will follow patterns, operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, and meet daily production targets within a 4-day afternoon shift.

Responsibilities

• Upholstery sewing: stitch heavy-duty fabrics, leathers and velvets to create cushions, carcasses, and arm covers for sofas.
• Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines.
• Insert and sew zippers, piping and valances neatly and efficiently.
• Carry out quality checks on seams, tension and measurements before passing work to the upholstery team.
• Aim to meet daily production targets under a piecework pay structure.

You'll work from patterns and specifications to produce consistent, high-quality products while achieving daily production targets.
