The Opportunity

We're looking for a new team member in the Quality Management Group to provide specific leadership and support in the conventional safety field.

We need you to be continuously looking at performance improvement and to be the leader of proficient risk identification and the associated management processes. You'll also oversee the training needs of the teams, whilst always maintaining a positive industrial safety profile out in the field.

Pay, benefits and culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £45,641 - £95,993 however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £45,641 - £81,263 and you'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

Please note this is a full-time, site-based role.

What you'll be doing

As Lead Industrial Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering expert safety advice to line management, supporting the station leadership in strengthening safety culture, and guiding the daily operations of the industrial safety team. You'll also be expected to contribute a more strategic approach to developing safety on site, helping to shape long-term safety initiatives and embed proactive risk management into operational planning.

You'll liaise with internal and external regulators, contribute to the development of company-wide safety standards, and actively participate in the Industrial Safety Peer Group to drive continuous improvement and share best practices across the fleet.

Who you are

We're seeking a qualified safety professional with a NEBOSH Certificate (ideally working towards a Diploma) and a relevant HNC or equivalent as a minimum. Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (MIOSH) is preferred.

You'll bring solid knowledge of UK safety legislation, HSE frameworks, and site licence requirements - preferably within the nuclear sector where nuclear power station systems experience would be an advantage, though other high-hazard industries such as oil & gas, chemical processing or heavy manufacturing will also be considered. Familiarity with industrial safety risks and control measures is key, along with experience applying safety standards and management systems in a high-hazard environment.
