Job Title: Industrial Refrigeration Engineer – Midlands – 48K + D2D

Location: Midlands (Coventry and surrounding areas)

Overview

An established and growing refrigeration contractor is seeking experienced Industrial Refrigeration Engineers to join their expanding team in the Midlands. This role involves service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems across sectors such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and storage.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with strong ammonia experience looking for a long-term position within a stable, technically focused business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintain, and fault‑find across a range of industrial refrigeration and cooling systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on both new and existing installations.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive service calls.
  • Work on a range of plant and equipment, including:
    • Single and two‑stage pumped ammonia systems
    • CO₂ systems
    • Blast chillers and freezers
    • Cooling tunnels, plate and spiral freezers
    • Glycol chiller systems (all refrigerants)
    • Adiabatic cooling systems
    • Ice machines and ice banks
    • Standard DX systems
    • Heat recovery systems and votators
  • Ensure all work complies with F‑Gas and ammonia safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota and respond to breakdowns as required.

Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience in the service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Valid F‑Gas certification and Ammonia Safe Handling training.
  • City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
  • Strong fault‑finding skills on both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to travel across the Midlands and occasionally further afield.
Desirable
  • Experience with CO₂ and hydrocarbon systems.
  • Experience in installation and commissioning.
  • Electrical or controls knowledge.
Package & Benefits
  • £38,000 – £48,000 (depending on experience)
  • 40 hour week net door to door – any hours required in excess of this are paid at overtime at the rate of time and a half including travel.
  • Paid at 1.5×, 2× after midnight/Sundays
  • 1 in 4/5 call‑out rota (standby £200)

Location & Travel
