Job description

What you will do


Johnson Controls Industrial Refrigeration (IREF) division delivers project solutions, maintenance & service solutions that support our customers manufacturing, cold storage and R&D testing requirements. We are the OEM for SABROE, Frick Compressors & York products with trained engineers located nationally providing project solutions along with planned, preventative & reactive works to our target markets being meat, poultry, food manufacturing, beverage, cold storage, general manufacturing, leisure, pharmaceutical & automotive.

As a Commissioning Engineer who is experienced in the start-up and commissioning of Industrial Refrigeration systems, you will meet defined system parameters in line with regulations, standards & procedures. The Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the project manager in a proactive manner to ensure the system is commissioned in line with plan and budget. This will include plant & equipment, pipework, refrigeration charges & associated controls.

How you will do it


As the direct contact with the client for site technical service and commissioning activity, you will be responsible for supporting the design team with final design, scope & specifications. You will have the ability to comprehend the design, scope of works & installation requirements for Industrial Refrigeration works.

In this role you will keep the customer informed, attend onsite reviews and provide guidance of requirement to suppliers & contractors. You will provide support to the project managers based on design & installation requirements.

Projects will be based across the UK & I and travel will be required within the role.

What we look for

  • Industrial Refrigeration experience

  • Working experience of maintenance & commissioning of industrial refrigeration plant and process cooling systems operating on HFC, CO2 & Ammonia refrigerants

  • Strong understanding of system types, for example pumped overfed, two stage and cascade

  • Ability to interpret electrical controls and associated drawings

  • F Gas refrigerant handling certificate

  • Ammonia refrigerant handling certificate

  • Working knowledge of CDM

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Possesses strong analytical capabilities and ability to define requirements

  • Travel flexibility to support National Opportunities

  • Excellency in verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Capable of working without documented procedures and with limited supervision.
