Systems Engineers are involved in all aspects of design and development, from initial product design to in-service support. They consider the big picture, determine operational requirements, and collaborate to produce the desired behaviors. They also delve into detailed design, defining each system component. Our Systems Engineers may also engage in R&D, developing new concepts and researching future technologies.

As a Summer Placement Systems Engineer, you will work on real engineering problems within the Radar or Advanced Targeting business areas. You will support various tasks across multiple projects, such as:

• The radar for the Typhoon fighter jet
• The radar for the SAAB Gripen fighter
• Our family of Surveillance AESA radars
• An IRCM (Infra-Red Counter Measures) system

Core activities within Systems Engineering include requirements capture, design documentation, verification, and validation, as well as algorithm design and testing. You will also work on performance modeling, data analysis, and applied research to improve products or explore new ideas.

You will be guided by an experienced engineer providing on-the-job training. You will learn practical skills related to systems engineering processes, methods, technology, and tools, gaining experience that complements academic learning.

All placement roles require a minimum predicted 2:1 grade in a relevant degree, preferably in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM disciplines. We are also interested in candidates with experience in coding, relevant project work, teamwork, and applying scientific knowledge to real-world problems.
