Job summary

Jaguar TCS Racing offers a 12-month student placement in the Vehicle Performance group (Summer 2027 – Summer 2028). You’ll work with the Strategy & Software team to help the car go faster, analysing real-time data, race strategy, and energy management, and contributing to pre- and post-event analyses.

You will develop in-house software tools, ensure robust code with source control, maintain data pipelines, and support the Ops Room during race weekends, which may require unsociable hours.

Responsibilities

• Development of in-house software tools to optimise race strategy & energy management in real-time environments using timing and car data.
• Analysis of car, simulation and timing data to inform strategic decision making.
• Contribution to pre and post event analysis of race strategy and competitor performance.
• Ensure that software is robust for use in production environments with a very high attention to detail.
• Use source control and collaboration tools to maintain code whilst exercising modern best practices.
• Maintenance and improvement of data pipelines to make processes and analysis more automatic.
• Participation in the Ops Room during race weekends to support the team at the track. This may occasionally require unsociable working hours.

This is an exciting opportunity where you will work with highly skilled and experienced engineering professionals and graduates who you can learn and develop with - the more questions you ask the more you will gain from your experience. It is important to know that many of our industrial placements have been successful in obtaining graduate roles on completion of their degree.

What you will do

Fundamentally, our mission within the Vehicle Performance group is to make the car go faster and score points. During the placement you will primarily work with the Strategy & Software team and take on responsibilities such as:
