Job summary

Jaguar TCS Racing, part of the Jaguar brand, offers a 12-month industrial placement in our Formula E Control Systems group in the United Kingdom. You will work with engineers to develop control strategies using MATLAB for on-car and off-car environments, aiming to reduce lap times over a race weekend.

The role is suited to students in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Mechatronics, Software or Motorsport Engineering, with an understanding of vehicle dynamics considered

Qualifications

• Candidate working towards a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Mechatronics, Software or Motorsport Engineering.
• Industrial placement aims to develop control systems experience and project work.
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the Car Development Team on control strategies using MATLAB.
• Develop control strategies for on-car and off-car environments (DIL, HIL) to reduce lap times.
• Develop methodologies and test procedures to improve code test coverage in Vehicle Control Module, Inverter and Motor Control software.
• Test hardware and control modules across multiple facilities.
• Prepare and support systems on vehicles at test and race events.

We operate a 12-month (September 2027 - August 2028) student placement programme within our Formula E Control Systems group. This is an exciting opportunity where you will work with highly skilled and experienced engineering professionals and graduates who you can learn and develop with - the more questions you ask the more you will gain from your experience. It is important to know that many of our industrial placements have been successful in obtaining graduate roles on completion of their degree.

To be eligible for an industrial placement within our Formula E Control Systems group you should be working towards a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Mechatronics, Software or Motorsport Engineering. An understanding of vehicle dynamics would be advantageous.

What you will do

• Working as an integral part of Car Development Team
• Developing control strategies using the MATLAB toolchain for both our on-car and off-car environments, DIL, HIL, to optimise the vehicle control software and realise quantifiable reductions in lap time over a race weekend.
• Developing of new methodologies and test procedures to ensure we achieve and maintain a high level of code test coverage within our Vehicle Control Module, Inverter and Motor Control software.
• Testing of our hardware and control modules across a variety of test facilities.
• Preparation and support of systems on operational vehicles at test and race events
