Job Description
Our client, an award-winning rotating equipment repairs workshop, is seeking a Workshop Supervisor for their electrical repairs division. You will report to the Workshop Manager and oversee a team of workshop electrical fitters and other personnel.
The role involves repairing rotating equipment on the electrical side, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, generators, and other rotating equipment. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and providing technical support to workshop operatives, both on the bench and during shifts.
- Dismantling and inspecting work to ensure quality and completeness.
- Testing motors and repairing motors, gearboxes, pumps, and generators.
- Managing workflow to ensure timely completion of jobs and excellent customer service.
- Progressing jobs through the workshop, checking work requirements, and ordering parts.
- Covering for the Workshop Manager by pricing jobs during their absence.
- Ensuring parts are ordered and allocated to team members for assembly, followed by testing before delivery.
- Ensuring adherence to workshop procedures and monitoring job progress, including job times.
- Maintaining training records for operatives.
- Deputising for the Workshop Manager and taking responsibility for all workshop activities.
- Managing calibration of measuring equipment.
- Attending site as required, including site work and out-of-hours call-outs.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a workshop electrical fitter, working with a range of motors including AC & DC machines.
- Experience repairing rotating equipment from an electrical perspective.
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not provided).
- Located in or willing to relocate to Greater Manchester/North West England.
- Ideally some supervisory or management experience.
- Full clean driving license.
- Ability to cover shifts on a rota basis.
