Job summary

MPJ Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for an Industrial Disease Fee Earner in Blackburn. You will manage claimant industrial disease claims, notably NIHL, handling own caseload with proven litigation experience. The role requires preparing pleadings, schedules of loss, and liaising with clients and experts.

The position offers a Monday–Friday pattern with a salary of £30,000–£35,000 DOE and a clear path for progression within a specialist Industrial Disease team.

Qualifications

• Experience managing claimant industrial disease claims, ideally including NIHL.
• Proven litigation experience is essential, with the ability to independently manage litigated caseloads.
• Good understanding of the CPR, Pre-Action Protocols, liability, and quantum.
• Confidence interpreting medical and audiological evidence.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, and client care skills.
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with a proactive and commercially focused approach.

Responsibilities

• You will manage claims from initial instruction through to settlement and, where required, through the litigation process.
• You will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal advice, progressing claims efficiently, and providing an exceptional level of client care throughout.
• Manage a caseload of claimant industrial disease claims, including NIHL, from instruction through to settlement or litigation.
• Progress both pre-litigated and litigated claims, taking ownership of key deadlines and case strategy.
• Assess liability and quantum using medical, audiological, employment, and witness evidence.
• Draft and prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss, and court documentation.
• Liaise with clients, defendants, insurers, medical experts, counsel, and other third parties.
• Negotiate settlements and work towards achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
• Ensure all claims are progressed in accordance with the CPR and relevant Pre-Action Protocols.
• Maintain accurate case records and provide clear, timely updates to clients throughout the claims process.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven legal professional with experience handling claimant industrial disease claims, particularly Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), who is confident managing their own caseload and has proven litigation experience.
