Job summary

VolkerLaser, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking an experienced Industrial Coatings Blaster/Sprayer to deliver high quality surface preparation and coating work across the UK.

You will operate blasting and airless spray equipment, apply primers and topcoats to specified thickness, and comply with SHW5000/SHW1900 and Network Rail standards while maintaining safety, productivity, and quality.

This role requires a CSCS card and a proactive approach to both field operations and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in industrial blasting and spray painting, with TTP or ICATS certification.
  • Experience spraying or blasting on bridges or concrete structures.
  • Solid knowledge of blasting/spraying equipment and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform surface preparation to SA2-SA3 standards and mechanical prep to ST2-ST3.
  • Apply primers, intermediate coats and topcoats to specified dry film thickness.
  • Operate and maintain industrial blasting and airless spray equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify and report coating defects and ensure compliance with project specs.
  • Follow work instructions, maintain safety standards and meet production targets.

Job description

VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Industrial Coatings Blaster/Sprayer to join our Industrial Coatings division. This role is essential for delivering high quality workmanship in accordance with project specifications across the UK and ensuring all customer requirements are met.

Location: UK Wide

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform surface preparation to the required standards, including abrasive blasting to SA2-SA3 and mechanical preparation to ST2-ST3.
  • Apply primers, intermediate coats, and topcoats to the specified dry film thickness using high quality brush and spray painting techniques.
    Operate and maintain industrial blasting and airless spray painting equipment, demonstrating strong competence in setup, troubleshooting, and safe operation.
  • Work in accordance with recognised industry specifications, including SHW5000, SHW1900, and Network Rail M24.
  • Identify and report surface preparation and coating defects such as laminations, drips, runs, and blistering.
  • Follow all work instructions, maintain safety standards, and achieve production targets
About you
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in industrial blasting and spray painting, supported by either TTP or ICATS certification.
  • Previous experience Spraying or Blasting
  • Previous experience Spraying or Blasting on Bridges or Concrete structures
  • Strong technical knowledge of blasting and spray painting equipment, as well as relevant paint specifications.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety practices within industrial painting environments.
  • Good manual dexterity with the ability to handle materials safely and effectively
  • CSCS card
