Compensation: €55,000 - €65,000 / year


Description
Knowles Precision Devices is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Inductor Engineer to join our team. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing cutting-edge inductors to meet our customers' precise specifications. As an Inductor Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging advanced magnetic principles for RF and power supply applications and technologies to enhance product performance through design and support of manufacturing process development. Join us in contributing to the future of high-performance passive devices for demanding applications across major aero/medical/industrial/EV markets.

The position will be based out of the UK or Malaysia facilities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the inductor product development within Knowles
  • Work with the marketing team and our key customers in analyzing the market requirements and report back to the product management and R&D teams.
  • Work with the marketing, product management and R&D teams to formulate the plan and direction of the inductor program within Knowles.
  • Design and develop inductors for various applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams and sub-contract suppliers to translate designs into high-quality products.
  • Develop test methods and qualification plans to demonstrate the performance of the products.
  • Analyze and simulate inductor performance using electromagnetic simulation tools, and correlate to actual test results.
  • Develop and validate prototypes to meet customer and product requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during product testing and validation.
  • Optimize inductor designs for cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for performance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in inductor design.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to stakeholders.
  • Work with the marketing department to assist in the generation of marketing material and catalogs for the inductor product line
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in both product and process development.
  • Interface with customers to understand their technical requirements and provide solutions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with 5+ years of experience designing inductors.
  • Specific experience with ceramic core wire-wound RF inductors
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory and inductor design principles.
  • Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation tools (such as HFSS, Maxwell, or COMSOL).
  • Experience in working with advanced magnetic materials and their applications.
  • Knowledge of inductor manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in prototype development and product testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for inductor design.
  • Familiarity with PCB design and layout tools is a plus.
