Indirect Tax Senior Manager - Energy

Location: London or Aberdeen

We have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding EY Energy & Resources Indirect Tax team, advising clients across all areas of indirect tax in a rapidly changing and expanding industry sector. It is a varied role, supporting businesses across the spectrum of indirect taxes (including VAT, Customs duties, Excise duties, and Environmental taxes), helping them navigate the opportunities and challenges in the environment.

This role offers involvement in the transformation of the Energy sector, supporting clients focusing on sustainable and digitally enabled operations, low carbon energy generation, battery storage, and the transition to renewables, alongside traditional energy, power, and resources businesses.

The Energy Indirect Tax team is diverse, supportive, and high-performing, with a genuine interest in adapting energy generation and usage to meet net zero ambitions.

The role

You will lead indirect tax advisory work and projects, collaborating with EY colleagues globally, other tax areas, and broader advisory service lines to deliver on large projects, M&A, and restructuring transactions.

Your key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage effective teams to deliver high-quality advice to clients
  • Ensure technical excellence with a practical, business-focused approach
  • Oversee day-to-day client delivery
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor team members for development
  • Contribute to team strategy and operations, managing junior staff
  • Collaborate across EY to deliver comprehensive client solutions
  • Support growth of the EY indirect tax energy business and team

Qualifications and Experience
  • 8+ years' UK indirect tax advisory experience, preferably in Energy or a similar industry, with professional services background
  • ACA/ACCA/CA, Tax Inspectors with full technical training, Law qualification, or CTA
  • Business development skills and ability to build client relationships
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
Ideally, you'll also have
