Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking a Senior/Assistant Manager to help grow the London Indirect Tax Advisory practice. You will deliver high quality technical advice for a diverse client base across sectors and act as the main contact for indirect tax matters.

You will scope, deliver and bill client work, ensure risk management compliance, and guide junior staff. You will also develop your portfolio and generate new work through strong business development with Partners and Directors.

About the role

To play a key role in developing the London Indirect Tax Advisory practice atForvis Mazars; working closelywith the London Indirect Tax Director and Partner and other members of the team Delivering high quality technical advice, working with a diverse range of clients across various sectors. To be responsible for the scoping, delivery and billing of client work. You will also be required to be compliant with the firm's risk management processes for clients. Ensure that more junior staff are guided in researching and producing work that meets the firm's commitment to quality, whilst also supporting the relevant Indirect Tax Partner and Director. Provide technical relevant advice on a range of Indirect Tax matters, supporting your decisions with appropriate knowledge of legislation, case law, and technical analysis. Whilst the role is mostly advisory, it will also encompass the provision of specialist technical support for audits. Produce technical work to a high standard which conveys key points to clients and stakeholders in plain English. Work alongside the Partner and Director to manage a portfolio of clients as the main point of contact for indirect tax, develop your portfolio to grow your base of profitable work. Develop a portfolio of businesses to target, using your business development skills to start new relationships and generate new work for indirect tax and other teams. Work with colleagues across the firm to contribute to proposals for new work and provide technical input to tax-wide projects. Contribute to the indirect tax leadership team with ideas on management, projects, strategy and focus.

What are we looking for?

The position would suit a current Senior or Assistant Manager with strong technical, business development and personal skills seeking progression. The individual should have a strong interest in the technical side of Indirect Tax and should expect a high level of technical work commensurate with the role. Substantial experience in Indirect Tax advisory work. The individual must have strong client handling skills and the ability to develop good relationships with clients and other professionals. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills. CTA or legally qualified (or equivalent).
