Job summary

Allianz UK in Guildford is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to act as the subject matter expert for VAT, IPT and other indirect taxes. You will lead the preparation and review of returns, ensure compliance and advise stakeholders across Finance, Operations and Technology.

The role combines oversight of governance and risk with opportunities to drive process improvements and automation. Hybrid working with office attendance on Mon and Thu, salary circa £95K plus a full reward package.

Qualifications

• CTA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience across UK indirect taxes including VAT and IPT.
• Experience in the insurance sector or partially exempt business.
• Strong governance, compliance, reporting knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication.
• Ability to interpret complex tax legislation for non-tax stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead indirect tax compliance, reporting and risk management.
• Coach and manage Tax Accountants supporting the role.
• Lead the preparation and review of VAT, IPT returns with deadlines.
• Provide specialist indirect tax advice to Finance, Operations, Underwriting, Claims, Procurement and Tech.
• Support business change and transformation projects with indirect tax implications.
• Proactively manage HMRC enquiries, audits and information requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve indirect tax processes, systems and controls through automation and improvements.
• Monitor legislative developments and communicate impact to stakeholders.
