Job Description

Location: Enderby, Leicestershire

Salary: Competitive plus bonus & benefits

Next is seeking to recruit an Indirect Tax Assistant Manager within the Group Tax function, part of the wider Group Finance department, based at our Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire. The role involves ensuring compliance with UK and global VAT/GST/Indirect tax legislation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preparation and review of UK group VAT returns, VAT payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
2. Review of overseas VAT & sales tax returns and maintaining relationships with international advisors.
3. Preparation and audit of the partial exemption special method.
4. Support governance and management of VAT processes to maintain best practices and up-to-date procedures.
5. Assist in the preparation and review of the BRSA.
6. Develop strong relationships with the wider business to keep VAT matters aligned with business changes.
7. Help the finance team understand indirect tax changes and implications.
8. Review key balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts.
9. Maintain good relationships with external auditors and seek technical advice as needed.

Key Skills and Qualifications

1. Recently qualified accountant or tax advisor with 3+ years of indirect tax experience.
2. Knowledge of tax accounting and compliance.
3. Understanding of retail businesses is advantageous but not essential.
4. Experience with UK and some international issues preferred.
5. Ability to meet deadlines, solve problems, and analyze details.
6. Strong communication skills with employees across departments.
7. Proactive, ambitious, and excellent at business partnering.
