KPMG has one of the leading Indirect Tax practices in the UK. We work as a national practice providing advice and support in all aspects of Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs Duty, Green taxes) to a broad range of business sectors including large multi-nationals, household name retailers and public sector organisations.

The Indirect Tax practice is a fast-growing and dynamic business, currently with 13 partners and approximately 186 professional staff located across the UK. We work to support our portfolio of clients with a variety of Indirect tax issues. Within the team we have specialists in sectors such as Retail, Supply Chain, International Trade, alongside our Public Sector specialisms. We work closely with our colleagues in Trade & Customs, Corporate and Employment tax to deliver value to KPMG's clients.

What will you be doing?

  1. Working as a key member of the team to provide Indirect Tax advice to a broad range of clients helping them to achieve their commercial objectives.
  2. Providing indirect tax and advisory compliance services to a range of clients.
  3. Supporting senior members of the team in the delivery of client projects.
  4. Day-to-day, direct contact with clients and developing long lasting, positive relationships.
  5. Supporting senior members of the team in business development initiatives.
  6. Working with and developing Tax Assistants within the team.
  7. Helping to identify opportunities to implement and develop technology solutions to deliver compliance and advisory projects.
  8. Working with and contributing to the diverse and friendly team.

What will you need to do it?

  1. ACA, CTA or Qualified Solicitor and/or relevant experience (at least 3 years) with Indirect Taxes.
  2. Existing VAT / IPT knowledge or skills that can be transferred easily.
  3. A commitment to develop existing Indirect Tax knowledge / skills.
  4. An eagerness to develop wider skills e.g., communication, networking, business development.
  5. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  6. An ability to manage and prioritise work.
  7. Attention to detail.
  8. An ability to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues internally and with clients.
  9. Working with clients to identify issues and opportunities to enhance their Indirect Tax processes.
  10. Sustaining a high level of drive, enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work.
  11. Eagerness to learn, deliver quality to build the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience.
