Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Indirect Tax Accountant to join our finance team within a leading pan-European supply chain organisation. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a highly collaborative and professional environment, ensuring indirect tax compliance across multiple European jurisdictions. This is a 12-month contract, starting as soon as possible. You will be working on a hybrid basis, 3 days per week in the office.

In this role, you will play a critical part in managing VAT compliance, supporting operational teams, and enhancing processes across the region. The successful candidate will bring both technical knowledge and a proactive approach to process improvement in a complex, multi-country environment.


As Indirect Tax Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Prepare, analyse, and submit VAT returns across EMEA countries in accordance with local legislation and deadlines.
  2. Complete and file EC Sales Lists and Intrastat declarations where applicable.
  3. Respond to VAT compliance queries from internal stakeholders, particularly within operations and finance.
  4. Contribute to the documentation and improvement of VAT-related processes, identifying areas for optimisation and risk mitigation.
  5. Prepare and review monthly VAT reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  6. Support both internal and external audit requirements, including tax data analysis and report preparation.
  7. Collaborate with accounting and operational teams to ensure consistent VAT compliance across the organisation.

We're looking for an Indirect Tax Accountant with:

  1. Extensive experience working in indirect tax, ideally within a supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  2. Educated to degree level in accounting, finance, tax, or a related field.
  3. A recognised accounting or tax qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA, AAT, or equivalent).
  4. Strong understanding of European VAT compliance, including reporting requirements and audit processes.
  5. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  7. A proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to take ownership of tasks and drive continuous improvement.
