Job summary

NES Fircroft is recruiting an Indirect Buyer to join the procurement team of a major manufacturing business in Teesside. You will manage a range of indirect spend including MRO, maintenance, engineering services, facilities and professional services, delivering commercial value.

Responsibilities include sourcing suppliers, managing RFQs, tenders and negotiations, negotiating pricing and contracts, and maintaining supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in a Buyer, Procurement or Purchasing role.
• Experience across indirect procurement categories.
• Manufacturing/engineering/industrial background advantageous.
• Experience in supplier management, sourcing, tendering and negotiation.
• Commercial awareness with cost/quality/value assessment.
• Confident with suppliers and internal stakeholders at various levels.
• Strong organisation and time-management with multiple priorities.
• Good analytical skills and procurement data/Excel experience.
• Experience using procurement/ERP systems.
• CIPS qualification or working towards one is advantageous.

You'll manage a range of indirect spend, including MRO, maintenance, engineering services, facilities and professional services, working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver commercial value.

Key Responsibilities

• Source suppliers and manage RFQs, tenders and negotiations.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HSE and Finance.
• Support contract management and procurement improvements.

Experience & Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in a Buyer, Procurement or Purchasing role.
• Experience working across indirect procurement categories.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or process environment would be advantageous.
• Strong experience of supplier management, sourcing, tendering and negotiation.
• Commercially aware with the ability to assess cost, quality, service and overall value.
• Confident dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders at different levels.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good analytical skills and confidence working with procurement data and Excel.
• Experience using procurement/ERP systems.
• CIPS qualification or working towards one would be advantageous but is not essential.
