We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

Our global asset management business provides our clients and partners with complex, responsible investment solutions, working internationally across public and private markets.

Job Description

We’re currently looking to hire an Index Solutions Quant Strategist to join L&G Asset Management. The Index Quant Strategist will be responsible for the development of systematic rules-based equity and fixed income strategies.

The role involves building equity screens using fundamental and ESG data. The initial area of focus is portfolio construction using factor-based (smart beta) investing techniques and financial modelling. You’ll work collaboratively with various Investment teams and participate in the investment process of the systematic investment strategies.

What you’ll be doing
  • Assisting with the creation, updating and maintaining knowledge of LGIM's custom indices – index holdings and key performance drivers for communication to client relationship managers, distribution and clients
  • Being the point of contact for technical and specific client queries, leveraging specialists in the team if required. Attend client meetings and pitches as required
  • Creating standard presentations and RFP content to support client specific queries and lead non-standard presentation and RFP production for new custom indices
  • Working with the Marketing team (in conjunction with the investment and distribution teams) to develop marketing materials for index funds and services
  • Leading Quantitative and Qualitative research initiatives – leverage programming/database skills to investigate a diverse range of data sources. Be able to communicate complex analysis and sophisticated ideas to other team members
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the current investment market and economic issues from an index and benchmark perspective
  • Assist in carrying out competitor analysis of markets and product offerings
  • Liaise with the fund management teams to support the launch of the investment strategies with methodology documentation and fund reviews
Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to evaluate an index and have strong investment and financial market knowledge
  • Have previously constructed, reviewed or evaluated index/systematic strategies, and/or previous experience in evaluating benchmarks
  • Proven knowledge of Python or demonstrable experience with another coding language, including database languages like SQL
  • A strong intellect with sufficient technical and investment knowledge to be able to win the confidence of stakeholders and various investment teams
  • Experience with optimisation techniques e.g. minimising tracking error, incorporating constraints
  • Comfortable with large datasets and data exploration in diverse fields such as financial data (structured or unstructured), ESG data
  • Presenting to clients and participating in pitches
  • Take ownership of day-to-day work and work with the various parts of the index team

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • In 2023, some of our workspaces were redesigned. Our offices are great spaces to connect and collaborate and have your wellbeing at the heart
