A Vet Job That’s Actually Different
This is a genuinely rare opportunity to join one of the few remaining truly independent small animal practices in the area: a single-site, purpose-built clinic where nurses lead, clients are loyal, and you're trusted to practice medicine properly; not to a script.

Now, with steady growth and a close-knit team in place, they’re looking for a second vet to join them on a part-time basis, whether you’re balancing home life, a portfolio career, or just seeking a sustainable rhythm.

The Practice
•4,000+ sq ft purpose-built site
•Long-standing, independently owned small animal clinic
•One of only two true independents remaining in the area
•5 consult rooms, separate cat/dog waiting areas and wards
•Spacious prep room, large ops theatre, dental suite, digital x-ray
•Loyal, respectful client base with room for caseload growth
•No “factory-feel” – flexible consult times, clinical freedom encouraged
•Truly sustainable rota – No OOH, no on-call, no bank holidays

The Team & Culture
•Led by a senior vet with over 20 years’ experience
•3 exceptional RVNs; confident with imaging, anaesthesia, dentals & Schedule 3
•Nurse-led model: nurses take histories, run clinics, assist with exams
•2 friendly, experienced receptionists keep everything running smoothly
•Supportive, ego-free environment where teamwork comes first
•Focused on continuity, quality care, and doing things properly
•Every voice is heard, and flexibility is a priority

Is This You?
You're a vet who:
•Wants a fulfilling part-time role with long-term sustainability
•Enjoys working collaboratively with capable RVNs and reception staff
•Prefers clinical freedom and thoughtful caseloads over production-line practice
•Values autonomy, work-life balance, and kind, capable colleagues
•Is looking for a role where flexibility and quality of life are built in

What’s in it for you?
Whether you're a seasoned locum looking for a bit more consistency, or a parent after reliable hours that fit around family life, this role offers the stability and support of a permanent position, without sacrificing the flexibility you value. You’ll enjoy true clinical autonomy, a kind and capable team, and a rota that genuinely respects your time. With pro-rata benefits including CPD budget, and generous holiday allowance; plus no OOH, no on-call, and no bank holidays. This a rare chance to do great work on your terms, in a practice that understands balance isn’t a bonus, it’s essential.

Why Devon?
Set in beautiful Devon, close to the Devon/Cornwall boarder, this role offers access to countryside, coast, and a relaxed pace of life, ideal for vets wanting a lifestyle change or a better work-life balance.
If you’re looking for a supportive, flexible, genuinely independent practice where you can still love being a vet, this could be it.
