Job description

Global Veterinary Careers are proud to be exclusively partnering with one of the few remaining truly independent small animal practices in the Southwest. Set in a vibrant and accessible part of Devon, this purpose-built, single-site clinic offers something refreshingly different in a world of corporate lookalikes.

With steady growth, loyal clients, and a genuinely nurse-led environment, the team are now looking to welcome a second vet with equity opportunities on the table after 12 months.

About the Role & Practice:

This is an independent, well-established small animal practice, offering clinical autonomy, zero production-line mentality, and no OOH, no bank holidays, no on-call. You’ll be part of a respected team that puts patient care, continuity, and clinical excellence at the heart of everything.

The practice itself is 4,000+ sq ft, thoughtfully designed with:

  • 5 consult rooms
  • Separate cat/dog waiting areas & wards
  • Spacious prep room, ops theatre & dental suite
  • Digital x-ray & modern equipment
  • Loyal, respectful client base with growing caseload

You’ll have time to do the job properly. Consults have no fixed time limits, and your professional judgement is genuinely respected.

The Team & Culture:

Led by an experienced vet with 20+ years behind them, the team is small but mighty:

  • 3 RVNs who lead confidently on anaesthesia, imaging, dentals & Schedule 3 work
  • 2 friendly and efficient receptionists
  • A warm, ego-free environment where everyone contributes equally
  • Nurses take histories, run clinics, perform exams — it’s a genuinely nurse-led culture
  • Strong team bond, regular socials, and plenty of cake

What’s on Offer?

  • Salary: £50,000 – £75,000+ (depending on experience)
  • Full-time: 40 hours/week, ideally 4 days (8:30am–6:30pm)
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays (9am–12pm)
  • 6 weeks annual leave (incl. bank holidays)
  • Private healthcare through Vitality Health
  • £2,000+ CPD budget with dedicated CPD time off
  • Pension scheme + salary sacrifice options
  • Equity opportunity after 12 months
  • No OOH, no bank holidays, no on-call

To Be Considered, You’ll Need:

  • MRCVS registration
  • A desire for proper clinical freedom
  • Up-to-date CPD
  • A team-focused approach
  • Excellent communication skills with clients
  • An interest in long-term contribution (equity available)
