Field Sales Executive

Field Sales Executive - Slough/Reading

Hours of Work: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

This role is field-based with HQ visits and offsite meetings. Salary: up to £25,000-£27,000 per annum, plus an additional 10% performance-related bonus. Benefits include a laptop, phone, group benefits (DIS, Pension, Health Shield Cash Back Plan), 20 days holidays (plus 8 bank holidays), and a company van/car.

Instore, part of Smiths News, is recruiting a Field Sales Representative to expand retail distribution points by selling products within the Independent Retail Sector (Convenience, CTN, Grocery, etc.). Candidates with field sales experience and demonstrable ability are encouraged to apply to join our team with Instore on behalf of our global client.

The client is a household brand supplying supermarkets, high street retailers, garden centres, and e-commerce. Their product offerings are well-suited for the independent market, featuring high-quality products at various price points, seasonal ranges, attractive margins, and ongoing retailer support through engaging marketing strategies. Our partnership with Instore enables us to provide effective field sales support.

This role involves managing a designated territory, visiting retailers to promote new service offerings, and acting as the key liaison between the brand, Instore, and Smiths News, ensuring effective communication.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and distribution targets to KPIs across various accounts, engaging business owners to complete sales.
  • Develop strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for increased distribution.
  • Adopt an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Identify Key Accounts with Bulk Distribution Opportunities (Mini Multiples/Others).
  • Maximize brand presence within the trade in your territory.
  • Complete all calls within the territory plan daily.
  • Develop a high-performing field mentality to meet KPIs.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and keep the Line Manager informed.
  • Proactively escalate and resolve issues.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and products.
  • Execute tasks to a high standard consistently.
  • Provide concise feedback to help drive client’s business and retail growth.
  • Complete administrative tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Understand the retail landscape to leverage competitor advantages and seasonal opportunities.
  • Use tools to ensure ongoing product availability through Smiths News delivery network.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in sales or retail, preferably within FMCG or consumer goods.
  • Brand ambassador experience is also considered.
  • Strong relationship-building and sales techniques.
  • Experience in remote field activity with sales targets and KPIs.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to drive sales through education.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Evidence of sales success.
  • Ability to influence and implement change.
  • Ability to document ideas and actions for performance improvement.
