Job Title: Independent Nuclear Assurance (Senior Inspector)

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Maintaining the delivery of independent inspection, surveillance, and concurrence of nuclear work on facilities, plant, equipment, and nuclear support services, both on-board and on-site.
  2. Evaluating nuclear and radiological safety and security performance against relevant legislation to assess compliance levels.
  3. Supervised inspection and assessment to progress submarine build and projects within the Site Redevelopment Programme through the Hold Point Control process.
  4. Communicating inspection conclusions and findings to stakeholders at all levels, including regulators, board members, and senior managers.
  5. Supporting independent assessments of business emergency exercises and providing feedback for improvement.
  6. Providing oversight and challenge to safety and security committees to ensure due process and safety integrity.
  7. Developing and maintaining individual Assurance Plans aligned with key projects and programmes.
  8. Overseeing Independent Peer Review of safety documentation.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience or knowledge in a Nuclear or Highly Regulated Environment, or within a Quality or Safety role.
  • Ability to confront challenges and provide influential solutions.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and methodical in approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in auditing inspections.
  • Knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions or security regulations.
  • Experience in submarine build, testing, and commissioning.
  • Degree or equivalent in STEM subjects.

About the Team: As part of the Nuclear Safety and Regulation Department, the Independent Nuclear Assurance team acts as an internal regulator, providing an evidence-based independent view of safety and security performance, influencing change across the business.
