Job description

Independent Mental Health Advocate (CAMHS)

Position Overview

Together for Mental Wellbeing is seeking an Independent Mental Health Advocate to join our Advocacy service based at The Lookout CAMHS inpatient service in Nottingham. This role involves providing independent mental health advocacy and generic advocacy to qualifying patients, including individuals detained under specific sections of the Mental Health Act ’83.

Candidate Requirements
  1. Experience in advocacy or within mental health services, working directly with young people in a professional or caring role for at least 3 years.
  2. Ability to work across multiple wards and participate in mandatory breakaway and physical disengagement training annually.
  3. Hold or be willing to work towards a National Advocacy Qualification level 4 (specialist module working with young people and children) within the first year.
  4. Willingness to gain experience working with adults at Wells Road forensic low secure hospital.
  5. Enhanced DBS check required for both young people and adults.
