Job summary

A local community service provider in London seeks an Independent Living Facilitator to support young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Overview

Independent Living Facilitator — Contract: 3 months (initial); Hours: 28.8 hours per week; Rate: £23 per hour (Umbrella) (£18 PAYE an hour).

Southwark Council's Adults Provider Services - Southwark Resource Centre is looking for a passionate and dedicated Independent Living Facilitator to join our team and help young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centred, outcome-focused interventions in the community, at the Southwark Resource Centre, or in other appropriate settings.
  • Act as a keyworker, facilitating tailored activities to build confidence, promote inclusion, and increase independence.
  • Connect individuals with local networks, community services, and digital resources to enhance well-being and resilience.
  • Support and encourage participation through emotional, behavioural, and practical support, including personal care when needed.
About You / Qualifications
  • Experienced in supporting individuals with complex needs, including those with behaviours of concern.
  • Skilled in facilitating group and individual activities aligned with EHCP outcomes.
  • Able to develop communication skills and deliver inclusive support using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
  • Comfortable providing personal care, manual handling, and working flexibly across both centre-based and community settings.
  • Conduct risk assessments and contribute to safeguarding, health, and safety practices.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, families, and external services.
