Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

We have an exciting opportunity for an IDVA to join the Merton Domestic Abuse Team, working 37.5 hours a week in a hybrid model, including working from home, Merton Civic Centre, and the Merton One Stop Shop.

Location: London Borough of Merton, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, with flexibility depending on service needs.

Salary:

• Qualified: £30,850/year (including £2,800 London Weighting Allowance)
• Unqualified: £28,810/year (including £2,800 London Weighting Allowance)

Additional info: Travel expenses, permanent contract, DBS required, police vetting not required, closing date 08/11/2024, ref no 5829.

About the role:

This hybrid role involves:

• Implementing effective support strategies for victims to increase safety and reduce harm.
• Providing high-quality frontline services prioritizing risk and focusing on victims aged 16+.
• Working within multi-agency frameworks like MARAC to ensure victim safety.

You will need:

• Knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims.
• Understanding of domestic abuse impacts, risk assessment, safety planning, safeguarding, and legal responsibilities.
• Experience in direct service delivery, excellent communication, negotiation, advocacy skills, and commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.
• Strong crisis management skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
