Job summary

Fortalice is seeking an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) in Bolton. The role is 18.5 hours per week, temporary until 31 March 2029 with possible extension, and pays £15.15 per hour (£14,574 per annum if full-time equivalent is considered).

Applicants should have SafeLives IDVA training or relevant experience and a strong understanding of domestic abuse and risk management. The position requires a driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel to venues.

Purpose of the role:

Provide high-quality support to victims of domestic abuse, focusing on those at highest risk and advocating for them. Aim to reduce further abuse while working within a multi-agency framework, including MARAC and local partnerships. We encourage applications from individuals experienced in working with the BAME community who can address language, cultural, and faith barriers, enhancing engagement with Fortalice's domestic abuse support services.

Candidates should hold a SafeLives IDVA training certificate or have relevant experience working with domestic abuse victims. A strong understanding of domestic abuse, its impact on victims and their children, and knowledge of Bolton’s domestic abuse services is essential. Additionally, candidates must be familiar with risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management principles to effectively support and guide victims.

• As this is a community-based project and the work will involve travelling to different venues, therefore it is essential to have a current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance for work
