We have an exciting role working as part of our established Community IDVA Team, providing proactive support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse assessed as high risk. We are looking for an experienced domestic abuse professional to join our Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) team. Our IDVAs play a key role within our community by providing short to medium-term support to high-risk victim/survivors, empowering them to understand and overcome their situation, regain control, and move forward.

Job Requirements
  • Manage your caseload, ensuring each victim/survivor receives appropriate support tailored to their needs.
  • Complete risk assessments, safety plans, referrals to other agencies, and MARACs using evidence-based risk identification tools and support plans.
  • Work within a multi-agency framework including MARAC, police, health professionals, child protection, housing practitioners, and other voluntary and statutory services.
  • Provide practical, emotional, and advocacy support to empower victims, focusing on safety planning, safety measures, and the use of civil and criminal justice systems to increase protection.
  • Collaborate with relevant intervention services, including perpetrators, to ensure safety processes are followed.
  • Keep victims/survivors informed, providing access to services and support organizations to help them achieve their goals.
  • Deliver support in safe, accessible, and flexible locations based on the needs of victims/survivors.
What We’re Looking For
  • A good level of education, including GCSE English and maths or equivalent.
  • Evidence of self-development or formal learning in sector skills.
  • At least 12 months of experience supporting adults with domestic abuse or complex needs.
  • A formal qualification such as IDVA or willingness to obtain one.
  • A good understanding of domestic abuse, its impact, and available legal and practical remedies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues, procedures, and legislation related to domestic violence.
  • Awareness of the specific challenges faced by victims from culturally diverse communities.
  • Fluency in more than one language is an advantage.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work.
  • DBS check and police vetting clearance.
