Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate

We have an exciting opportunity for an IDVA to join our team in London, working 37.5 hours a week. This role is based at Homerton Hospital, Hackney.

Work Details:
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9-5 with some flexibility
Salary:
  • Qualified: £28,050 + £2,800 London Weighting
  • Unqualified: £26,010 + £2,800 London Weighting

About the role:

This role involves working as part of our IDVA team within the London Victim and Witness Service, supporting clients through hospital liaising, safeguarding, and criminal justice processes. You will work in partnership with other agencies to increase domestic abuse prosecutions.

Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing effective safety strategies for victims and supporters
  • Providing high-quality frontline service to victims, prioritizing according to risk
  • Working within multi-agency frameworks such as MARAC
You will need:
  • Knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs for victims
  • Understanding of domestic abuse impacts and legal responsibilities
  • Skills in risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Strong crisis management skills
