Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference in people's lives? Do you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? Are you ready to take on a role that impacts your community? We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Independent Advocate to join our vibrant team in Birmingham.

As an Independent Advocate, you will provide crucial support to vulnerable adults facing health and social care challenges. Your responsibilities include delivering statutory advocacy services such as Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA), Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA), and Care Act Advocacy. You will represent clients verbally and in writing, collaborate with public and voluntary organizations, and take action to resolve client issues. Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and handling sensitive information confidently are essential.

Hours of Work:

Full-Time: 37 hours, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

Location:

Home-based with travel around Birmingham. Applicants must reside in the area, have a full driver’s license, and access to their own transport.

Salary:

Starting at £24,242.40 per annum

Contract:

One permanent position and one fixed-term (1 year)

Requirements:
  • Strong communication and time management skills for remote work
  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and familiarity with client management databases
  • Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and reporting within deadlines
Desirable:
  • Experience in advocacy, information, advice, or similar roles in health, social care, or voluntary sectors
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults
  • Knowledge of public and voluntary organizations
