Job Description:

Job purpose:

  • Oversee the provision of housing management services to tenants of Babergh and Mid Suffolk.
  • Promote collaborative working across both Councils and develop accessible, customer-focused staff.
  • Represent Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, working with tenants, colleagues, and agencies to improve services.
  • Maximize income through effective recovery of housing and garage charges, including rent and service charges.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a housing management team to deliver excellent services.
  • Ensure charges are collected and team performance maximized for income.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and leadership to staff.
  • Report on performance metrics as required.
  • Stay informed on housing sector issues affecting the councils.
  • Encourage staff training and development.
  • Develop and monitor service improvement plans.
  • Conduct regular staff reviews and address staffing issues promptly.
  • Innovate tenant engagement strategies, especially for under-represented groups.
  • Lead community initiatives and attend community events.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent housing qualification.
  • Relevant experience in housing or related field.
  • Understanding of housing law and management.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driving license and access to a car.
  • Strong commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months, preferably on the update service.
