Responsible for providing support to enable and assist people in a defined Local Authority area in receipt of SelfDirected Support in particular a Direct Payments (DP), Individual Budgets (IB) or Independent Living Fund (ILF)to set up and manage their own support arrangements effectively and efficiently.

This post will require PVG scheme membership / Disclosure.

You will build policy, campaigning and participatory capacity within GCIL, shaping this as a new function in theorganisational structure and building the knowledge and expertise necessary to exert influence on key decisionmakers in the statutory and third sectors.

This role will provide and maintain an analysis of the policy and legislative environment, identify the implicationsfor disabled people and their carers, establishing opportunities and methods for participation andinfluence.

You will support the development of specific campaigns on matters that affect disabled people, and where appropriate,work with others to jointly assert the case for change that benefits disabled people.

As a member of the Senior Management Team you will be responsible for the leadership, planning and delivery of therange of services GCIL offers disabled people. We are a long-established charity and led by disabled people fordisabled people. We believe in the social model of disability, and this is at the heart of our culture, andapproach to service delivery.

Our teams provide information, advice and assistance to disabled people (and their supporters) in a number of localauthority areas in the west of Scotland. These include SDS support services, housing, and employabilityservices.

Glasgow Association for Mental Health is one of the principal providers of community mental health services inGreater Glasgow. We are commissioned by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership to deliver aCompassionate Distress Response Service (CDRS) for people in distress who do not require a medical or clinicalintervention. We would like to recruit for our Out of Hours Pathway for Emergency Services, First Responders,the Mental Health Assessment Units etc. The OOHs service operates 7 days a week Monday through to Sunday 5pm-2am.

The service operates from our GAMH Head Office- Glasgow by the Green.

Key Skills:

Good communication skills to be able to work effectively with referrers and individuals using the service.Compassionate listening, be able to alleviate individual’s feelings of distress. Be highly resourceful insupporting individuals i.e., identifying coping strategies, self-management techniques and onward referral whereappropriate. Be confident and competent to apply risk assessment, safety planning, and escalation processeswhere appropriate. SVQ 3 or equivalent or willingness towards achieving this qualification is essential.

You will be responsible for the range of services GCIL offers to disabled people, including our Support services forthose who use self-directed support to manage their own support needs, our Housing and Employabilityservices.

Working closely with the Head of Operations, the Service Manager is responsible for ensuring that GCIL servicescontinue to develop in line with our strategic aims, that they are sustainably funded, and that they providehigh quality, efficient and effective services to those who use them.

You’ll uphold all legal, regulatory requirements, and standards while promoting a culture of continuous learningwhilst driving innovation and improvement.

About You

What we'll need you to bring: -

  • Proven experience of working within the Health & Social Care sector
  • Have confidence in complexsituations, using your communication skills to effectively raise concerns and find constructivesolutionKnowledge and experience of providing high quality support services in a person-centred environment thatempowers individuals to reach their potential
  • A strong understanding of the Health and Social CareStandards, relevant legislation and regulations.
  • The ability to analyse and interpret statisticaldata
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • A creative, innovative and imaginativeapproach to tasks and adaptable to change
  • The ability to produce high-quality, accurate work to strictand tight deadlines
  • Effective negotiation and team working skills with the ability to work on your owninitiative
  • A professional care or health qualification
