About the School

Castle Academy is a local school with a global vision, and this is at the very core of our curriculum offer. Every school in the East Midlands Academy Trust (EMAT) is committed to providing the highest standard of education so that all children are supported to be the best that they can be. This will be achieved by the delivery of a well‑planned and highly effective inclusive curriculum which is driven by our values.

Against a background of increasing complexity of special and pastoral needs, EMAT reviewed the traditional classroom based support staff to better meet the needs of our students. This led to the creation of the Inclusion Support Practitioner role, designed to enhance teaching and learning by:

  • Supporting consistently high expectations and standards in every classroom
  • Enthusing, engaging, and motivating students to achieve their best
  • Building trust and confidence in both students and colleagues

In this role, you will be trained to be able to work more proactively and independently, providing targeted support to a range of students both with and without specific needs, adapting learning, and leading small group or one‑to‑one interventions. The position offers clear professional progression, with training and support to empower staff to make a real difference in student progress and development.

In addition, Inclusion Support Practitioners will collaborate closely with teachers, internally contracted specialists like educational psychologists, speech and language professionals, family liaison teams, and through our unique partnership with the NHS have access to Education Mental Health Support Teams, and external services such as local authority teams, ensuring a joined‑up approach to each child’s learning, wellbeing, and personal development.

General Roles and Responsibilities

To ensure the greatest possible progress and development of students, through high quality teaching and learning. To challenge and support all students to achieve their best by:

  • Setting consistently high expectations and standards
  • Enthusing, engaging and motivating students
  • Inspiring trust and confidence in students and colleagues
