Job summary

Barking & Dagenham Council is seeking a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner to work across Best Start Family Hubs, delivering early intervention and SEND support for children aged 0 to 5. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote school readiness and inclusive practice in family hubs and community settings.

You will undertake observations, screen for needs, provide targeted interventions, maintain records and support families navigating SEND pathways, all while coaching staff

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Child Development, Education, SEND, Health or related discipline.
• Experience with children aged 0–5 with developmental needs/SEND.
• Knowledge of EYFS, SEND legislation and evidence-based approaches.

Responsibilities

• Undertake observations, screening and early identification of children aged 0–5.
• Deliver targeted, time-limited interventions and inclusive practice in Family Hubs and community settings.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor progress for service evaluation.
• Provide practical advice and strategies to parents and carers and navigate SEND pathways.
• Deliver training and workshops on early identification, SEND and inclusive practice.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to Family Hub staff and partner practitioners.
