About the role

We are currently recruiting an Incident Prevention Manager to support the implementation of our 'A Safer Tesco' strategy. Your goal will be to reduce preventable security incidents and improve security procedures within our stores, aligning with our vision of everyone, every day, home safely. You will possess detailed knowledge of safety and security risks and collaborate with retail teams, central Security, Security Hub teams, and Operation Support Partners to minimize incidents and crime.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Being the trusted regional expert on security procedures and legislation, including post-incident reviews, safety equipment, GDPR, staff searches, key control, and seasonal lockdowns.
  2. Mentoring staff to ensure accurate security incident reporting and working closely with the Hub triage team to analyze insights and reduce incidents.
  3. Owning the post-incident review process, ensuring investigations are fact-based, include crime references, and promote the 'STAR' behaviors among colleagues.
  4. Conducting welfare checks on involved colleagues and third-party guards, providing support such as EAP and trauma training.
  5. Raising issues related to incomplete next steps with relevant partners.
  6. Using centrally provided data proactively to diagnose risks and support store safety plans.
  7. Guiding stores on responding to police requests for CCTV and collaborating on investigations.
  8. Modeling and promoting personal safety behaviors, challenging unsafe behaviors when necessary.
  9. Supporting stores in successful seasonal lockdowns in partnership with Operations Support Partners.
  10. Facilitating collaboration between security teams and store operations to reduce incidents and ensure equipment compliance.
  11. Staying updated on security trends through independent study and contributing to team activities.
Minimum requirements
  • Experience in mentoring and engaging colleagues.
  • Experience in improving team capabilities.
  • Experience with shrinkage and security in retail environments.
  • Partnering and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to engage multiple partners effectively.
