In this role, you will have responsibilities for the Government Regional Centre in Leeds. You will be a key figure in responding to any incident that occurs and lead in emergency situations with day-to-day responsibility for business continuity and incident control within the Government Hub and Specialist Sites. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of the region's fire safety and ensuring fire safety plans are in place. You will lead on Business Continuity for the region, ensuring plans are in place and tested regularly, working with stakeholders across all business streams. This is an exciting time to join HMRC and be part of HMRC Estates property transformation.

The successful candidate will have day-to-day responsibility for the Government Hubs' Incident Control and Business Continuity readiness, in line with departmental standards.

They will be a key figure in responding to incidents that occur.

You will be responsible for ensuring all HMRC Lines of Business and other Government Departments can react effectively to incidents, with appropriate Business Continuity plans and preparations to recover the region's buildings.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues within the Estates Workplace Operations Team and a wide range of stakeholders within the Government Hub and Specialist Sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of fire safety within the region, ensuring fire safety plans are in place and legal requirements are met.
  • Lead during emergencies, making decisions and instructing others to ensure occupant safety.
  • Develop and support the incident response team through training and ongoing support.
  • Coordinate counter-terrorism activities in line with departmental standards, working with the Regional Security Manager and Head of Counter Terrorism.
  • Ensure robust Business Continuity Plans are in place across Lines of Business, assisting in their development and testing.
  • Coordinate access to buildings for Incident Control activities.
  • Manage PEPs for staff and visitors, ensuring they are integrated into emergency procedures.
  • Conduct weekly safety checks and address issues identified.
  • Provide guidance to Government Departments in the Yorkshire area on Incident Control and Business Continuity.
  • Monitor safe occupancy in collaboration with the Head of Estates.
  • Ensure staff are trained to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Work with other Estates teams to deliver quality services and advice.
  • Apply statutory legislation appropriately to inform decision-making.

While primarily responsible for Incident Control and Business Continuity in the region, the role may involve supporting wider team tasks, including responding to customer inquiries, maintaining processes like locker management and signage, and other tasks assigned by the Building or Estate Managers.

  • Must be organized, responsible, and possess strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Recent relevant experience in incident management and/or business continuity is required.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
  • If not already certified, willingness to obtain a Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) or equivalent qualification within 24 months.
