Job Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Incentives and Reliefs team in either our Newcastle/Birmingham or Manchester office.

You will be responsible for assisting managers and directors in managing a portfolio of clients and completing claims for Research and Development tax relief, patent box relief, and other creative industry reliefs. Responsibilities include leading client meetings, completing and reviewing project case studies and claim calculations, and liaising with clients throughout the claim process.

Client work
  • Manage a portfolio of R&D clients and their claims, including client relationship and workflow management
  • Client liaison on technical R&D claim matters
  • Conduct technical client interviews
  • Prepare and review tax relief claims, including technical case study reports and claim calculations
  • Follow procedures aligned with industry and HMRC guidance
Staff Management and Development
  • Liaise with managers and directors
  • Conduct appraisals and monitor staff performance
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to junior staff
  • Address staff questions and support team development
Personal Development
  • Engage in on-the-job training, seminars, and courses
  • Stay informed about other firm areas to encourage cross-referrals
Qualifications
  • Chartered tax advisor (CTA) and/or accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA), or international equivalent OR a degree in natural sciences or technology (e.g., engineering, software development)
  • Experience in tax incentives and reliefs
  • Proficiency in English and Mathematics
  • Strong communication skills
  • Problem-solving attitude
  • Experience managing people
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel proficiency
