Job summary

The University of Manchester is seeking a researcher to work on a project in the electron microscopy centre of the Nancy Rothwell Building and NGI, performing ex-situ characterisation of beam-sensitive electrocatalytic materials using STEM and TEM techniques across the university's microscopes.

The role will develop in-situ TEM capabilities for real-time visualisation of electrocatalysts under operating conditions, using the Protochips Poseidon holder.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in STEM characterisation of beam-sensitive materials.
Experience acquiring 4D-STEM and STEM-EELS data.
Prefer experience with FEI Talos F200A and FEI Titan ChemiSTEM (G2 80-200).
Experience in TEM/STEM image processing and simulation using open-source Python tools (hyperspy, pyxem, ASE, abTEM).
Experience with Protochips Poseidon holder for electrochemistry.

Responsibilities

Perform ex-situ characterisation of electrocatalytic materials using STEM/TEM.
Support development of in-situ TEM capabilities for real-time visualisation of electrocatalysts.
Process and analyse STEM/TEM data using Python tools; contribute to method development.
