Job summary

Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced Secondary Maths SEND Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one educational support to a young person in Hereford.

The successful tutor will have strong Maths subject knowledge and experience supporting learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs, adapting teaching style, pace and resources to meet individual learning needs and to build confidence and progress academically.

Qualifications

• Strong Maths knowledge at secondary level.
• Experience teaching or tutoring Maths.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience providing one-to-one or personalised educational support.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual SEND needs.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
• The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised one-to-one Maths tuition to a secondary-aged learner.
• Support GCSE revision, exam preparation and exam technique where appropriate.
• Cover areas including number, algebra, geometry, statistics, ratio, proportion and problem-solving.
• Identify gaps in mathematical knowledge and provide targeted support.
• Adapt lessons, resources, teaching methods and pace to meet individual needs.
• Break down complex mathematical concepts into manageable steps.
• Monitor progress and provide appropriate feedback.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the learner.
• Collaborate with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the learner's support.
